Well... we appear to have finally succumbed! The now infamous 'Winter of '07/08' did it!! We have decided to start the move towards becoming "Snowbirds". This past spring we took friends up on their offer to pop down to Myrtle Beach and share their oceanside condo for a week. We loved it! Too many restaurants to count... miles of white beach and many fishing piers stretching out into the ocean... side trips to Charleston and other interesting and historical places... checking out area plantations and soaking up their history and beauty... morning and evening walks along the beach and afternoon dips in the pool... and finally, disgustingly cheap wine and liquor! SO... we decided to start out by booking a month in Surfside Beach - right next door to Myrtle Beach - in fact, merely a 5-10 minute walk along the beach from where we will be staying. We have booked March 2009 and if it works out (which it will undoubtedly do) then we shall consider thinking about 3-4 months away from that horrible white stuff.

Here are some photos from our March 2008 adventure in Myrtle Beach. I have also posted some shots of the accommodations we have reserved for March 2009. We had booked a two week cruise in the Caribbean for February 2009 - to see the islands we missed in our 2007 cruise - but have cancelled that in favour of something different - current thinking is a couple of weeks cruising from Papeet or Bora Bora to Australia or New Zealand later in 2009 or early 2010. Hey! We're gonna do it if health and money hold out... we're 'retired' - right?
