Comments: Fitzroy always has been one of our favourite places to camp. In the spring when the water is higher, there is excellent smallmouth and largemouth fishing. The Ottawa river also offers great pickerel/walleye fishing as well. The Fitzroy beach is nice and well kept. We like certain sites which are very large as you can see. The park is close to Arnprior - about 15 minutes away - which has good shopping and of course, a Canadian Tire store. We have camped at Fitzroy for a number of years - never a serious problem with facilities or other campers. If you have kiddies, this park offers lots of biking or walking trails, a clean and safe beach, canoe rentals and waterside fishing. (the campground is located below the dam, not above.. so no concerns there)! If you just want to get away and have a quiet relaxing time, we recommend May, June or September - while school is still "in". No bug problems in May or September but mid Jume to mid July, better bring the spray!
