Presquile Provincial Park May 31 - June 23d, site #67 booked
Har we goes agin - we allers include Presquile in our spring camping plans - tradition and all that! We normally start out there in mid May but last year - the weather was terrible so we "learned" and have avoided May on the Bluffs - this spring starting out a bit later. On a different site this time - site #67 - on the bluffs with a direct view of the water and nice privacy thanks to a large stand of pines - even a bit of cover over the fireplace. Actually planned to go back to our old site #78 but last year it got chewed up a lot - muddy! Also tried for #75 but the old man screwed up the computer at booking time - damn fingers refuse to hit the proper keys at times!! What the heck - as long as we have our waterfront view! Still a good time to be at Presquile - before schools get out - not crowded, bugs have not yet massed and the steady offshore breezes keep them down even if they do arrive. Most of our camping friends have also reserved around this time - time for 'campfire hopping' and the beer & vino will surely flow on a regular basis! And of course, periodic tripping up to the "Fish capital of Ontario" at Hastings, as well as trying out a new fish restaurant right in Brighton - Boatsie says it is quite good!
Mew Lake - Algonquin August 16 - 24th - site #18 Booked
It`s been 3 years since we visited Algonquin Park, It`s time for a repeat! Campsites are big and are located near the lake - so we can canoe. No motor boats allowed - strictly kayaks, blow-ups and canoes - and there is some great trout fishing here! In late July we tripped down to Miramichi NB - Jackie wanted to see her Mom - and while there we stayed at a friends fishing lodge where Jackie learned to Fly-Fish for Atlantic Salmon - so - trout fishing is definitely 'on the list'! Many surrounding lakes including gateways to the Algonquin 'interior' where we can access undisturbed lakes and rivers - and a great opportunity to get some good moose, deer and bear shots with the camera. The campground is located - walking distance - near the Park store close to Two Rivers Park off Hwy 60 - and adjoining a massive field of blueberries - and berry-hungry bears, but they do not bother anyone) too much), just like posing for photo-ops and berries taste better than humans I suspect (hope)! The field used to be a war-time airfield, now deserted, also an old 20km railway rail bed acts as a great cycling path - well used by yours truly and the new trailbike.
Presquile Provincial Park August 30th - September 28th, site #75 booked
Our usual fall camping session. Back on the old haunt, #75, missed it in the spring - dang hounds interrupted my booking process. Same old - same old... gang will be here, Hastings and other dinners out, have to wipe out all the local geocaches, late August, early September, will have to take a few dips in the lake at SandBanks - Jackie has to hone up her snorkeling, lots of campfires - then look foreward to another bout of Myrtle Beach with friends - life ain't bad at all!
